S/Y Imperia Black Pearl Jewellery Collection
Once we have decided that the S/Y Imperia Jewellery Collection should be based on the beauty created by the Sea, it became perfectly clear that one could not find anything better than the South Pacific Black Pearls for seeing this idea fulfilled.

Many believe that the best black pearls are produced on the islands of Tahiti, French Polynesia. Though we originally shared the same belief; it wasn’t until we reached the mystical land of the Cook Islands that we were introduced to the ocean gem of these atolls known as Cook Islands black pearls to the outside world. Though the same black lipped oyster “pinctada margaritafera” are used/farmed by both group of tropical pacific islands; various exceptions used by the other made one stood out; which suit our needs and standards perfectly. EG: In Tahiti, anyone with sufficient capital can purchase a license to pearl farm. In the Cook Islands, the northern group are atolls and one must be an indigenous or have blood ties in order a license to be issued. This guarantees the care and love for their environment where there are no industrial factories and very limited tourists travels that far. All these modern civilization necessities can harm, pollute and contaminate the lagoon that they are farmed in. The Tahitian specification is that the pearl should have .8mm thickness in nacre when harvested for exportation; whereas the Cook Islands specification is 1.2mm. Such substantial difference in the nacre thickness largely affects not only the surface characteristics and lustre of the pearls; it also affects their appearance and, more importantly, its longevity.

Beside already mentioned, the production and marketing of the Tahitian black pearls are completely monopolized by the Chinese and Japanese companies, which makes the selection of a unique pearl collection suiting our purposes impossible. All these circumstances took our search to the Cook Islands’ area. It took us a considerable amount of time and effort to establish a good and reliable relationship with the Polynesians owning the pearl farms located on tiny atolls of the South Pacific. These reserved little islands belonging to the local tribes are literally lost in the Ocean. Getting there is quite a mission even from Rarotonga (the Cook Islands’ capital), let alone New Zealand or elsewhere.
Nevertheless, we have found a solution to this problem and are now enjoying the privilege of being the first ones to make the required selection from the best pearls once the pearls are harvested, which happens twice a year. For our jewellery collection we also use the rare blue pearls of New Zealand and the popular white pearls of Australia, but the main stress is made on the mesmerising beauty of the Cook Islands’ black pearls.
Pearls’ cultivation is a highly demanding and not necessarily rewarding process under the scorching tropical sun, far from the civilization. Lots of effort goes into every handful of pearls.
Our friends from the Cook Islands value friendship more than a commercial benefit, just as we do. Together we create outstanding jewellery masterpieces using the unique material born both by the Ocean and the human talent. Another important advantage of our cooperation is the guarantee of the pearls’ naturalness in the world pearl market flooded with fakes.
The intellectual property rights for the unique design of the S/Y Imperia Jewellery Collection form an integral part of our project. This design harmoniously unites the marine life theme with the classic yachting style.
Although we do not display our Jewellery Collection on Internet, you are welcome to have a look at the pearls we use for our Collection. The pictures you see on this page can be enlarged by clicking. More photos can be viewed in our Gallery.
We are open for the cooperation and will always find time to communicate with the like-minded people. If the idea of the yachting design classics combined with the magic of black pearls is to your liking, you are always welcome to email us.
